For our second GBM of Fall Quarter 2014, UCSD’s Phi Alpha Delta was pleased to welcome Abigail Stephenson, attorney at Blanchard, Krasner & French. Miss Stephenson spoke to us about the 3 main areas of law she deals with: transactional law, family law, and intellectual property law. Stephenson graduated from University of San Diego Law School cum laude. She was also elected to and serves on the board of directors for the La Jolla Bar Association, and serves on the Professional Advancement Committee of the Lawyers Club.

For our first General Body Meeting of Fall Quarter 2014, UCSD’s Phi Alpha Delta was pleased to welcome Deputy District Attorney Jessica Coto. Miss Coto spoke to us about the challenges, rewards, and nuances of working in the district attorney’s office and as a trial lawyer. As a former UCSD alumni, Miss Coto also shared her path from undergraduate studies to Deputy D.A.
From March 3rd to March 5th, the UCSD Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta presented a series of panels regarding the law school admissions process. Working together with Phi Alpha Delta alumni, LSAT Preparation Companies and deans from prestigious law schools in California, the chapter launched its first “Tridents to Gavels” event, its mission to further educate students who are interested in pursuing a legal career. On the 23rd of April, the UCSD Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta voted in its new Executive Board for the upcoming school year. On behalf of the fraternity, we would like to congratulate our new president, vice president, treasurer and secretary for September 2014 to June 2015.

For the first GBM of Spring Quarter 2014, Mitra Ebadolahi, an instructor from Testmasters, talked to members about her experiences of the law school process and the importance of the LSAT in regards to law school admissions. She also gave a preview of how she teaches the Testmasters LSAT Prep class and tackles the questions.

During the second meeting of the quarter, Guest speaker Stephanie Perry from UCSD’s Kaplan Test Prep spoke to the members about the LSAT process. Perry also gave some advice to members interested in taking the LSAT and showed some statistics of the law school application process. She also generously handed out some free preparation materials for the LSAT.
